Some LPRU researchers have criticised the team in charge of studying and translating the folio as having simplistically applied their own social and gender conventions to a completely alien community, both in the title they have conferred upon the folio and in their interpretation of the individual roles held by family members. Up to now there has been limited research on the family dynamics of Lye Planet cultures. I should note that I am involved with this particular study solely as musical arranger, and for this reason I do not see it fit to comment on whether the team’s conclusions, while perhaps aiding comprehension for a wider readership, are justified. I am, however, told that alternative analyses of the folio are forthcoming.
It should also be noted that while it was common in rural areas for offspring and their parents to co-habit, those in more densely populated, ‘urban’ environments tended to raise their young communally.
